Turbo Smoke
Fan Driven Smoke Unit for DC operation

Dimensions; 1" wide x 2 1/2" long x 1 3/4" tall
Our new Turbo Smoke fan driven smoke unit was designed with the operator in mind. Our new smoke unit uses a micro motor to turn an impeller, which forces air through the heating chamber to force the smoke out. Our new Turbo Smoke unit features three all new special effects new before available in 2-rail. These great new features are;
- Auto Shut Off; The new Turbo Smoke unit constantly monitors the operating temperature of the heating element (the device used to turn the liquid into a vapor). If the heating element overheats as a result of low fluid or over voltage the heating element is turned off. The fan motor is turned on full blast, which forces air through the heating chamber to cool the heating element. Once the element reaches nominal operating temperature the it is turned on again and normal operation resumes.
- Puff N Chuff; This is one of two special effects built into the new smoke unit. It works like this; When the locomotive is sitting in neutral (or idle) the smoke lofts out of the stack. When the locomotive begins moving, and the sound system starts to chuff, the smoke is forced out of the stack in pulses. Pulses that are in sync with the chuffing of the Railsounds. When the locomotive reaches 4 chuffs per second the fan motor is turned on full blast (at 4 chuffs per second the chuffs are barely distinguishable let alone puffs of smoke). It's called Puff N Chuff because each time the sound chuffs the smoke puffs. This is a great feature for all steam locomotives.
- Diesel Accell; This is the other special effect built into the new smoke unit. Designed for use in diesels, it works like this; When the diesel is at idle the smoke lofts out of the stack. When the locomotive starts moving the smoke volume is increased dramatically. The volume of smoke and speed at which it is forced out of the stack stays constant as long as the diesel is moving. Once the diesel stops the smoke volume drops and the smoke once again lofts out of the stack. If the auto shut off circuit goes into thermal shut down the output speed increases, but the volume of smoke decreases. It almost looks like the diesel is revving up and down, very cool!

Each TAStudios Fan Driven smoke unit upgrade kit includes;
- Detailed installation instructions for both steam and diesel applications
- User selectable steam or diesel special effect
- Fiberglass fluid batting that doesn't sink when fluid is added (unlike the competition) (the fluid batting transfers
fluid to the heating element through capillary action)- 3-Pin wire harness for easy wiring
- Operates from 5-22 Volts DC
- 100% Compatible with all manufacturers locomotives and sound systems
The Turbo Smoke unit kit comes with double sided tape to assist you in holding the smoke unit in position while mounting it in your locomotive. No brackets or other mounting hardware is included. It is impossible to provide a mounting bracket to fit every locomotive on the market, so a little mechanical thinking is required on your part. The installation instructions have several mounting suggestions. You will also need a piece of plastic or brass tubing to act as a funnel for both directing the smoke out of the unit and up through the existing stack as well ans a funnel for adding smoke fluid. We highly recommend the use of Plastruct plastic tubing with a minimum of 3/16" I.D. Installation is available for Turbo Smoke units if you are uncomfortable installing this unit.
We also manufacture our own smoke fluid is available in scented flavors and unscented . Please clkick on the link below for more specific information on our full line of smoke fluid. TAS Scented & Unscented smoke fluid
