Torquemaster Slow Motion Switch Motors

Torquemaster Switch Motors are the best choice for slow motion under-the-table switch control. Each Toquemaster delivers the highest torque available in a model railroad switch motor today. Torquemasters are slow motion stall motors. Engineered to stall when the tension of the point rail against the stock rail exceeds the torque of the motor. This means that once the Torquemaster throws the points there is nothing, and we mean nothing, that will slip through the joint. The throw speed is between 4-5 seconds regardless of the scale you model.

Torquemasters offer quiet, reliable operation. A Torquemaster should be powered by a 12VDC supply (provisions are made for higher voltages). A resistor is added to one lead of the input power, which means that each machine draws approximately 20 milliamps. This means that a 1-amp 12VDC power supply can effectively operate up to 50 switch motors. You can even use the power for your Torquemaster to control your signal aspects and panel lights (operating these accessories will reduce the number Torquemasters used on a 1-amp 12VDC power supply). Torquemaster motors are ideal for N, HO, S, O and G scales. They work great for both standard and narrow gauges alike. If you are looking for a reliable under-the-table switch motor that will keep your point rails firmly against the stock rails, then Torquemaster is the answer.

Each Torquemaster kit includes all mounting hardware required to successfully install one motor. A DPDT toggle switch is required for operation (sold separately). Is your layout equipped with DCC?

Torqumaster switch motors are 100% compatible with Digitrax® DS54 Quad Stationary Decoders. Torquemasters are also 100% compatible with all DCC manufacturers stationary decoders such as NCE, Lenz, etc. Any stationary decoder that will operate a Tortoise (which is basically all of them) will operate a Torquemaster. 

Alternative uses for Torquemaster motors

Torquemaster motors are ideal for powering signals, animated dioramas and much more. A Switchmaster is rated at 4RPM at 3VDC. Each motor shaft is approximately 5/16" long and features a 1/16" hole. The motor shaft is round, but can be ground down to create a locking shaft. Each Torquemaster motor delivers
18.059 ounce-inches of torque when run at 6 Volts DC. That's enough to drive turntables!
