TAStudios wire tethers are designed for locomotive conversions where the electronics install in the tender (or trailing dummy unit) and wires are needed to make the necessary connections between two pieces. Such as a locomotive and tender. Our tethers are available in 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10-pin configurations.
Each tether features a male and female connector that can be separated if necessary. From the photo above you will notice that our 4, 6 and 8-pin tethers have a single red wire while the remaining wires in the tether are black. The red wire is for polarization and the remaining black wires are to help make the tether less noticable. TAStudios wire tethers feature 26 AWG stranded wire and will easily handle up to 15 amps of current.
The reason we use these larger tethers is reliability. Over the last 9 years we have only had one tether fail out of over 9000 units. They may seem a bit bulky, but believe us when we say "You'll never have to replace it".
The 1-pin tethers are ideal for MTH steam conversions where you are reusing the existing 4-pin tether. The addition of the 1-pin allows you to control the smoke unit from the remote.
