Engineer On Board Cruise Control

The Engineer On Board Cruise Control is a constant speed Command Control upgrade with Railsounds 4.0. The EOB allows you select between 3 different operational modes all from the Cab-1 without touching the locomotive!
The EOB Cruise Control operating modes are
32 Speed step cruise control
128 Speed step cruise control
Cruise off, for lashing up to non-cruise locomotives
The EOB Cruise allows you to select a speed, either from the standard 32 speed steps or from 128 speed steps, using the Cab-1 remote and forget about the train. The cruise control will maintain the speed you set regardless of grades, tight curves, etc. The EOB will maintain whatever speed you set. In the event the load comes uncoupled from the locomotive the cruise technology immediately compensates for the difference in the load and maintains the speed you set.
Engineer On Board Cruise Control is packed full of industry leading technology, with features never before offered for Trainmaster Command equipped locomotives. EOB is the only Trainmaster compatible cruise control system that offers you 3 different speed step modes each selectable from the Cab-1 remote, which means you don't have to touch the locomotive! Simply press a couple Cab-1 keys and you're set! Another TMCC first is user selectable chuff rate, a couple key strokes and you can set 1, 2 or 4 chuffs per revolution!
EOB Cruise control incorporates our own cutting edge technology called "Torquemaster". Torquemaster is what allows our cruise control to run so smoothly and prevents the couplers from fighting each other when operated in a lash-up.
The 32 speed step mode is incorporated to provide 100% compatibility with Lionel Odyssey equipped locomotives. In fact the 32 speed setp mode allows you to run a lash-up with an Odyssey equipped locomotive.
The 128 Speed step mode is simply awesome. With the 128 cruise mode you are able to get a locomotive to run slower than ever before without any jerkiness at all! And when two or more EOB equipped locomotives are in a lash-up the results are stunning! Such smooth slow speed control you won't believe your eyes! Why is 128 speed steps better? Because it provides 128 individual speed steps in between dead stop and full blast. So the advantage to 128 speed steps is the precision control you have over the motors, which ultimately effects the speed of the locomotive.
The Cruise Off feature is incorporated to provide compatibility to non-cruise equipped locomotives. By turning cruise control off you are able to operate in a lash-up with non-cruise equipped locomotives, rergardless of whether they have AC or DC motors. The Torquemaster technology is disabled in the cruise off mode.
For our steam engine fanatics we have incorporated another great advancement in technology into the the EOB Cruise control. User Selected Chuff Rate, USCR allows you to select 1, 2 or 4 chuffs per revolution. What's more is that you can tweak the chuff trigger points from the Cab-1. This means that you can customize the chuff input to each specific locomotive regardless of the size of the drivers or the gearing of the motor. A few simple key strokes on the Cab-1 to select the trigger points initially and you never have to touch it again! Then, using a key stroke sequence on the remote you can select 1,2 or 4 chuffs per revolution even when the locomotive is on the move! This is a great feature for the prototypical operator! Because the chuff trigger is being generated as a result of the flywheel sensor input we have incorporated a chuff output trigger for 100% compatibility to our Turbo Smoke units and our Puff N Chuff synchronized puffing smoke circuit.
The EOB Cruise control can also be operated in a conventional mode with the option of having cruise control on or off. The on/off selection is made by physically moving a switch on the locomotive frame.When operated in a conventional mode with the cruise feature on, the electronics perform the same constant speed control that is performed in a command controlled environment with the Torquemaster enabled.
Each EOB Cruise Control upgrade features;
1 EOB Cruise Control Motherboard
1 Sensor Board with mounting hardware
1 Striped tape strip for the flywheel
All necessary 2 and 3-pin wire harnesses
2" Diameter high performance speaker
Adjustable chuff rate from the remote (1, 2 or 4 chuffs per revolution)
Comprehensive easy-to-follow detailed installation instructions
Engineer On Board Cruise Control will be available in 3 different packages;
Complete Command Control and Railsounds 4.0 w/ EOB Cruise Control
Command Control and Railsounds Ready w/ EOB Cruise Control
EOB Cruise Control motherboard only (allows you to reuse existing Lionel plug-in cards)
If you already have a TMCC equipped locomotive you can upgrade it to Engineer On Board Cruise Control by simply using the kit with the motherboard only. Regardless as to who made the locomotive, you can reuse the existing Lionel Command Receiver and Railsounds 4.0 power and audio boards. By simply removing the OEM motherboards and installing the cruise control motherboard you can take virtually any 3-Rail TMCC equipped locomotive and add Cruise Control to it!

Locomotive Requirements
There are some limitations to what you can convert to EOB. For the time being, our initial release will only be compatible with locomotives that are euipped with DC can motors that have a flywheel. The locomotive must also have the room to accommodate to the motherboard as well. The overall EOB dimensions are 1 1/4" wide x 5 5/16" long x 1 1/2" tall.
For those of you who own AC motored locomotives, don't fret, the AC motor version of Engineer On Board will be available in the second half of 2005! Please check back for more details in the future.
Unfortunately Engineer On Board Cruise control is not available as an upgrade to any of our previous Command Control products. The EOB is a completely redesigned motherboard with such advanced technology that a plug in upgrade incorporating this circuit is physically impossible at this time.
If your locomotive is equipped with DC can motors but they do not have flywheels you can contact Frank Timko at Timko Train Repair for details on upgrading your motors.
