TAStudios offer the ability to upgrade Weaver diesel and steam locomotives with Protosounds 2.0. Now you can add the full boat of features to most any Weaver locomotive!
Each Protosounds 2.0 upgrade features
Proto Speed Control - Run locomotives at constant speeds up and down grades, through curves with and without loads, regardless of track conditions.

Weaver Diesel Locomotives
Weaver Diesels are pretty standard, however, at the present time we are unable to convert the very early Weaver locomotives with a horizontal motor and driveshafts. Providing the locomotive has twin vertical can motors TAStudios can upgrade the locomotive to Protosounds 2.0 and even add a fan driven smoke unit! Outside of these limitations TAStudios can do almost anything to your Weaver diesel locomotives!
Weaver Steam Locomotives
Most all Weaver steam locomotives are equipped with flywheels, so installing Protosounds 2.0 is possible. Some modifications may be necessary to the back of your locomotive cab wall to facilitate the new 10-pin Protosounds 2.0 tether. In some instances we may use our own 10-position tether to eleviate any ultra-custom work. Most all Weaver Brass locomotives have a Seuthe style smoke unit, which Protosounds 2.0 locomotives will operate, however they will not puff in sync with the chuffing sounds. TAStudios has fan driven smoke units available for Weaver Steam Locomotives to add the synchronized puffing smoke option to these upgrades (installation is extra).
Special Attention for Accurate Control
Protosounds 2.0 electronics require a precise combination of variables for the accurate performance of the speed control portion and chuff rate on all locomotives. Most Weaver locomotives have different sized flywheels, gear ratios and driver diameters which present a problem from the normal Protosounds 2.0 upgrade kit flywheel stripes. TAStudios takes the time calculate all of these variables and to develop and print the correctly spaced flywheel tapes to match the speed step performance of a factory equipped Protosounds 2.0 locomotive. This extra step ensures your locomotive produces an accurate 4 chuffs per revolution of the drivers and complete lash up compatibility with other MTH locomotives. This step is often overlooked in the conversion of non-MTH locomotives!
